F.A.Q.

How do I become a member?

Simply turn up at any film club event. There is no administration period before you can enjoy the club’s facilities. After paying the requisite fee, you will receive a membership card and you’re in – it’s that simple. For details of fees, see our membership page on this website.

What are the advantages of membership?

You save money! The club does allow admittance to non–members but they pay 66% more for each film seen. Therefore, over the year, you save money by being a member. Also, a substantial membership helps the club as evidence that we are providing a valued service to the community.

What sort of films will be shown?

The club will publish a set programme for each season. Film selection is based on whatever information the membership provide. The ‘programme’ will not be too specialist because the membership has a wide taste in movies. Over and above the published programme, the club will screen other films if there is evidence of a demand. As a ‘film club’, we aim to make a wide variety of films available but we need membership support to do so.

How can I suggest a film to be shown?

Tell the committee. Use our Comments Page, or you can contact them by email or telephone via Brampton Community Centre, personally at any screening, or by leaving a note on the suggestion page in the club’s folder kept at Brampton Community Centre.

How big is the screen?

The screen is 12 feet wide and about 7 feet deep, in a 16:9 ratio.

I’m hard of hearing. Will I be able to hear the sound?

A hearing loop is provided at Brampton Community Centre.

What are the seats like?

A little basic, but if you love films, you won’t care. You can bring your own folding seats and/or cushions for more comfort if you prefer.

Are there any refreshments available?

Yes. Brampton Community Centre volunteers normally serve ice creams and drinks before the film. Club members provide tea and coffee after the film, to encourage contact between members and discussion of the film.

Is there disabled access?

Brampton Community Centre is equipped with access for the disabled.

Can I bring children?

Children are welcome, provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult and the film certificate permits their entry.
