Set in the New York music scene of the early 1960s, the film plots the meteoric rise of a young Folk singer, Bob Dylan. His reputation took a hit when he began using electric instruments, particularly at the controversial concert at Newport Festival, where his audience was very much divided in their response.  Nevertheless, his career flourished and he is now recognised as one of the all time greats of American music.
